SoleFest (SF): Since when did you took to running?

Rajesh Tiwari (RT): Since last 6 years.

SF: Was there any particular reason, for your decision to take to running?

RT: Yes ,initial plan was to reduce my body weight and  now it has become passion.

SF: What is the best you like about running?

RT: The challenge to keep running at a pace which is out of your comfort zone and which test your lungs capacity to the fullest,due to running I  can now afford cheat days occasionally where in I can relish desserts and other yummy Indian foods.

SF: What is the one thing you hate about running?

RT: Nothing.

SF: Running is mostly about spending energy, can you describe about your other workouts to earn that energy?

RT: I do gaming to strengthen my different lower body muscle group and core which are integral part of  injury free running.

SF: Describe something about the transformation that you got mentally and physically after you took to running?

RT: I have become calmer and more patient since running teaches you to prove your aggression on running track/terrain and perseverance can lead to your desired set of credible goals.

Which you have set for yourself

SF: There is a saying that behind every success there are some unknown hands, who are the people behind you whom you would like to thank for your running success?

RT: Actually None.I am self motivator and doesn’t need any company to go for workout/running.some sacrfices have definitely been done by my spouse to value my addiction for running.

SF: There is a general tendency or if said apprehension about running, like injury to knee and stress to other body parts, due to which many people don’t take to running, what is your view on that?

RT: I have been running for last 5-6 years and by grace of god I have never got injured.regarding threats to knee and other body parts: study shows that > 99% of knee replacement surgery  across globally. Has been done for the people who don’t run at all  i.e mostly the people who lives sedentary life style therefore for me aforesaid are Myths. Daudo or Jalsa karo, kuch nahi hoga.

SF: Tell us something more about yourself Rajesh?

RT: I work for Chennai based Shriram group as Vice President –Credit and risk,I manage credit,process and collections for Gujarat,MP and chhattisgarh states. I have total work experience of 15 years in Banking and finance industry.Am an ardent cricket follower and Sachin Tendulkar is my eternal Role model.

SF: Rajesh you ran the first solefest event solefest 1.0 and was a podium finisher there,tell us what did you find good about the event?

SF: Event was amazingly well planned at a short notice of mere 15-20 days.right from flag  off timing adherence,routes,hydration,prize distribution and yummy break fast.everything was top class and that too At a negligible registration fees.My hearty Kudos to Sole fest Team and am looking forward for this edition.Cheers

SF: Tell us something about your diet?

SF: I am diet conscious guy,I follow regimented diet for 6 days ,on Sundays I do relish myself with one cheat meal.I am a pure vegetarian Pandit. I eat more of Fibres,Healthy fat & Protein ,I control my carbohydrates intake since It leads to fat gain due to my poor metabolism,I don’t eat carbohydrates after 7:00 pm  and consume 6-7 litres of water daily,My staple diet includes,Dal,Kathol,curd,Milk,Brocolli,letuce,Carrot,Brown rice,dry  fruits tofu, Paneer,Oats etc

SF: What would you like to advice any newbie who would like to take to running?

SF: Eat healthy,be consistent with your training  and only compete with yourself.do take inspiration from others but goal needs to be set according to your body limitations .gradually things will start falling in place be it a goal pertaining to distance,pace etc.

SF: What are your plans for SoleFest 2.0?

SF: Am doing 10k this time ,target is to hit my PB with strong finish and enjoy the run and event to the fullest.
